Made from the fibre-rich cereal grain Barley (Jau), this flour is extremely versatile with its rich nutty flavour and an appealing chewy consistency. Regular consumption of barley is supposed to provide a host of health benefits as it is a whole grain that retains a larger portion of its natural fibre, vitamins, and minerals.
Cooking Tip
Barley flour can be used in part or completely as a substitute in wheat recipes. Due to barley's low-gluten content, however, it may be necessary to combine it with a high-gluten flower if using in baked goods intended to rise, such as bread and cakes. It also makes for an excellent thickening agent, particularly for soups and stews.
Storage Tip
Transfer contents into an air-tight container after opening, then store in a cool and dry place, away from moisture.
